Hierarchical boom servers

The boom enterprise edition supports multiple scenarios of hierarchical integrations between boom servers (the boom2boom Module).
The integration between the Target boom Server (the one which receives the indications) and the Source boom Server (the one which forwards indications) is based on the same transport and Server Indication Filtering configurations that are used by the boom GUI Clients. This flexible mechanism enables with some easy configuration steps to filter or to split forwarding indications for multiple Target boom servers and local users.

The Server Integration allows to cover business aspects as:

  • Splitting responsibilities between Expert Centers
  • Organize Shift based Operation Centers ("Follow the Sun")
  • Enables interconnection between geographically or logically splitted zones
  • Workload Distribution
  • Simplifies migration aspects

#Scenario   Description
1ProxySource server is acting as proxy. In this scenario indications will be archived on the Source Server after delivery to the Target server. This scenario can be used to split responsibility of the IT departments or operator groups.
2MirrorOr full-control scenario. All indications are synchronized between the Source and the Target servers. Closing or archiving indications reflects on both servers.
3MasterSource server sends messages to the Target server as read-only. The Target server will see all messages and Close/Archive activities from the Source Server, but closing or archiving on the Target Server will be not reflected on the Source Server.

The integration also enables the users of the Target Server to work with the boom Agents connected to the Source Servers. Users can view Policies, Threshold Details and perform Actions for such Agents without the need to take care which Server this Agent is connected to. Transparently to the user the Target Server forwards such requests to the according Source Server. Therefore the Target Server does not need to have direct access to such Agents, which gives a great flexibility to cover environments with splitted network zones.
